The Orthodox Prayer Corner

An Orthodox prayer corner is a dedicated physical space in a home used for personal and family prayer.

It acts as the spiritual heart or "domestic altar" of an Orthodox home. It serves as a constant visual reminder of God's presence throughout the day. It brings the liturgical worship of the church into daily domestic life. 

A Prayer Corner usually features an Icon of Jesus Christ and an Icon of the Theotokos (the Virgin Mary), often placed alongside a central cross and local and patron saints. Style, space and decor depend on individual or family preferences.
